Comparison of Three Biofilm Detection Methods in Coagulase Negative Staphylococci Species

چکیده

This study was conducted with the aim of investigating ability Coagulase Negative Staphylococci (CoNS) for detection biofilms, which are considered as main virulence factor in their pathogenicity. Three methods were used this purpose, tube method, congo red agar and tissue culture plate method. Thirty-seven isolates following bacteria tested, includes Staphylococcus epidermidis, S. saprophyticus, haemolyticus, hominis, lentus sciuri. The results method showed that most (64.5%) gave a moderate positive result, (32.3%) weak six no to form biofilm, that, majority result (89.3%) nine negative biofilm formation. As ranged between (62.9%) (31.4%) positive, while only two could not biofilm. When comparing efficiency three detecting CoNS it found efficient (94.6%), followed by (83.8%), (75.7%).

Comparison of methods for the identification of coagulase-negative staphylococci.

Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) species identification is still difficult for most clinical laboratories. The scheme proposed by Kloos and Schleifer and modified by Bannerman is the reference method used for the identification of staphylococcal species and subspecies; however, this method is relatively laborious for routine use since it requires the utilization of a large number of bioch...

Antibiotic susceptibility pattern and biofilm formation in coagulase negative staphylococci.

Introduction Coagulase negative staphylococci (CoNS) are commensals of non-sterile sites in humans and become pathogenic mostly when the host is immunocompromised by prior diseases or invasive surgical or related procedures [1]. Slime or biofilm production by CoNS has been identified as an important factor in the pathogenesis of infections as bacteria organized in biofilms are protected from th...

Extracellular Polysaccharide Production and Biofilm Formation by Coagulase-negative Staphylococci

Coagulase-negative Staphylococci (CoNS) form a part of the skin flora and commonly cause nosocomial bloodstream and catheterrelated infections. According to their relatively low virulence, it is important to detect the virulence factors of clinical isolates. The production of extracellular polymers and formation of biofilms belong to virulence factors. We studied clinical isolates of CoNS and c...

Biotyping coagulase-negative staphylococci.

The biochemical profiles obtained with Staph-Ident (Analytab Products, Plainview, N.Y.) panels were combined with the results of adherence and synergistic hemolysis tests to define biotypes among 1,064 clinical isolates representing eight species of coagulase-negative staphylococci. The 672 isolates of Staphylococcus epidermidis were aligned in 69 of 144 potential biotypes in our scheme because...

Coagulase-negative staphylococci.

The definition of the heterogeneous group of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) is still based on diagnostic procedures that fulfill the clinical need to differentiate between Staphylococcus aureus and those staphylococci classified historically as being less or nonpathogenic. Due to patient- and procedure-related changes, CoNS now represent one of the major nosocomial pathogens, with S. e...
